Donnelly retires following 17 years leading Student Publications
PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University’s Al Donnelly, general manager of the Office of Student Publications, is retiring after providing 17 years of leadership. A retirement reception was held in Donnelly’s honor last week.
Donnelly was hired in 1995 as advertising and marketing manager in Student Publications, which produces the Daily Evergreen and Chinook Yearbook. He later became interim general manager and eventually landed the job on a permanent basis in 2006. Donnelly also periodically taught advertising classes in the College of Communication.
Student Publications hires more than 100 WSU students each year to produce the Daily Evergreen and Chinook. The positions range from reporters and photographers to advertising representatives and graphic artists. Many students have written or called Al telling him the experience they gained while working in Student Publications was invaluable in helping them find jobs in their fields.
"Al did an outstanding job during his WSU career and will be sorely missed by everyone,” said Steve Nakata, manager of communications for the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment. "He leaves big shoes for us to fill.”
A search committee has been formed and applications for Donnelly’s position are currently being accepted. For more information about the position, visit http://www.wsujobs.com
