‘Playathon’ by WSU music chapter raises funds for cancer

Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013

PULLMAN, Wash. – A public "playathon” to raise money for the American Cancer Society will be presented noon-4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in the Terrell Library atrium at Washington State University by the collegiate chapter of the Music Teachers National Association.

Music from the jazz and classical repertoires will be performed by students seeking to expand cancer research and support those fighting the disease, including mentors and teachers.

"Our teachers and mentors give us so much of their time,” said Sarah Stark, junior piano student. "We hope to give back to them and to raise awareness to show support as they fight against cancer.”

Check and cash donations will be accepted in the atrium, and a laptop will available for online credit card gifts. Credit card donations may be made online at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/wsuplayathon
