VANCOUVER, Wash. – Washington State University Vancouver has been selected to host one of five debates between Washington gubernatorial candidates Jay Inslee, a former U.S. congressional representative, and Rob McKenna, Washington’s attorney general.

The one-hour debate will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, in the Dengerink Administration building.

Hosted by Portland television station KATU, the debate will be broadcast live in the Portland/Vancouver area; the station also is working to provide a live video stream from its website. The Washington state public affairs network TVW will re-air the program on a tape-delay basis.

All of the available tickets for the event were given away to the public within the first 20 minutes of the announcement. The auditorium on the WSU Vancouver campus holds 200 people.

This is one of five gubernatorial debates statewide. The Spokane debate took place in June. Debates are set for Tacoma on Sept. 23, Yakima on Oct. 3 and Seattle on Oct. 11.
