Friday, July 13, 2012

PULLMAN, Wash. – A dedication ceremony for the Paul G. Allen Center for Global Animal Health will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, with a reception and building tours to follow.

The Paul G. Allen Center features 62,000 square feet of space and was constructed using Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards to minimize the building's energy and water use. The facility will serve leading scientists, faculty, students and staff as they research infectious animal diseases, diagnostics and vaccines, as pursue ways to implement discoveries on a global scale.

The building's open spaces encourage interaction between the students, faculty and staff, while the glass walls in the research wing provide natural light to the laboratories and allow guests to see ongoing work. There also are three conference rooms for on-site learning and for scientists to connect to people around the globe.
