TWISP, Wash. – Doubletree Farm will hold a tour from 12:30-4 Monday, July 9, in Twisp, Washington as part of the Tilth Producers and Washington State University Small Farms Program annual Farm Walk Program. The tour is open to the public and requires a registration fee.

 

Doubletree Farm is a small-scale family farm that relies on draft horses for plowing, planting, cultivating and harvesting. Farm owners Sam Thrasher and Paul Soodak produce vegetables, beef, pork, hay and grains and maintain a flock of laying hens and a milk cow. The products are sold at the Twisp farmer’s market, wholesale markets, and local stores and bakeries.

 

The event is open to the public and costs $15 for Tilth Producers members, students and interns and $25 for non-members. Registration can be done online at www.tilthproducers.org or a check can be mailed to: Tilth Producers, 4649 Sunnyside Avenue N #305 Seattle, WA 98103.

 

"The goals of the Farm Walk Program are to have farmers teach their acquired skills to other farmers, future farmers, or consumers,” says Doug Collins of the WSU Small Farms Program, "to bring growers and researchers together to discuss current organic farming research; and to provide input into the development of research agendas.”
