June 11-15

Free workshops, special promotions offered to staff

Monday, June 4, 2012

PULLMAN, Wash. – Fitness classes and workshops on stress reduction, self-defense and more are available free to Washington State University staff as part of Employee Appreciation Week, June 11-15. Most of the workshops are available via AMS for regional campuses.

During the week, entry to the Student Recreation Center will be free for staff. Release time is available for staff to attend the workshops, and those interested in workshops during working hours should coordinate with their supervisors.

The week also will feature a challenge activity 2-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, during which staff will focus on creating a more effective workplace and improving communication. Preregistration is required for this event and can be found at the UREC website.

In addition to the workshops, promotions will be held for WSU staff and faculty. The Bookie, including the Pullman location and regional outlets, will give faculty and staff a 25 percent discount on one item, and Ferdinand’s Creamery will offer two for one ice cream scoops. Special promotions also will be offered on branch campuses.

The week is hosted by the Administrative Professional Advisory Council, the Work/Life Advisory Committee and the Commission on the Status of Women in partnership with University Recreation and the Wellbeing Program. For more details and a schedule of available workshops, visit the APAC webpage.
