43 students, faculty and staff receive annual awards

PULLMAN, Wash. - The accomplishments of 43 students, faculty and staff members at Washington State University were celebrated at the fifth annual awards ceremony hosted by the University College on April 17 in the Lewis Alumni Centre.
In addition to 25 awards presented by the University College, four were made by the faculty Emeritus Society, six by the Honors College, three by the WSU Academic Advising Association (ACADA), and five by the WSU Teaching Academy.
One award - the Norma C. Fuentes and Gary M. Kirk Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research - was presented for the first time. Created by Fuentes and Kirk, members of the University College Campaign Steering Committee, it recognizes undergraduate excellence in research, scholarship and creative activities.
"The University College at WSU cherishes this opportunity to recognize the outstanding academic achievements of undergraduates, said Mary F. Wack, vice provost for undergraduate education and dean of the University College. "We are also pleased to honor our faculty and staff members who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference in the college careers of our students.
