Tuesday, Apr. 17, 2012

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Spokane School Board has appointed Washington State University alumna Shelley Redinger as its new superintendent. Redinger, who is a school administrator for the Spotsylvania School District in Virginia, will begin the position at the end of June.

Redinger was one of two finalists for the position. She graduated from WSU in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in education and went on to receive her doctorate in education administration from the University of South Carolina.

"I think Dr. Redinger is a very strategic thinker, very personable, will be very visible in schools, and will do a great job in building relationships,” the board’s president, Bob Douthitt, said. "I’m excited that she will be our next superintendent.”
