Dr. Anthony (Tony) Gallina, retired from the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine, died April 1 at his home in Panama City. He worked at WSU 1976-1992.Gallina was the director of the Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (WADDL) and taught pathology to many veterinary students and graduate students.
He was the first born in a large Italian family and grew up in Kent, Ohio. He served in the Air Force for four years during the Korean Conflict. He is known in the Panama City area for his "giving back for all the good things that life provided him," including many hours of volunteer work at the Catholic Charities food bank.
He loved his family to include daughter, Michaelann de los Santos; sons, Scott Gallina and Jay Gallina (deceased); granddaughters, Antonia de los Santos, Barbara de los Santos and Asti Gallina; grandson, Anthony Gallina; his wife, Barbara Gallina (deceased); and latest wife of 20 years, Lynne Siegfried.
