"Please remember to use caution,” said Bill Gardner, WSU executive director of public safety. "We’ll all understand if you’re a bit late” to work and appointments.
Driving conditions are expected to remain hazardous into the afternoon. The Washington Department of Transportation has extended the deadline for removing studded tires until April 16.
The snow may be short lived. Temperatures are expected to be in the lower 40s Thursday and may climb into the 60s this weekend.
That would be a welcome forecast for the WSU baseball team, which has suspended or postponed five Pullman games this season. It is scheduled to host a three-game series against Seattle University beginning Thursday.
