WSU Press author chronicles building of Grand Coulee

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University Press author Paul Pitzer and images from his book "Grand Coulee: Harnessing a Dream” will be featured on the PBS program "The American Experience" at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 3.
 
The program and the book chronicle the story of the Grand Coulee Dam and Columbia Basin Project, which irrigates 600,000 acres today and plays a major role in water control on the Columbia River. It is still the largest hydropower producer in the United States and is a key component in the power grid that supplies energy to the western United States.
 
Pitzer holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Oregon. His book was published in 1994 and can be ordered online on the WSU Press website or by calling 800-354-7360. WSU Press is associated with WSU Pullman, Wash. and publishes scholarly books with a cultural or historical relationship to the Pacific Northwest.
