Cooking demos, dining tours planned during March

PULLMAN, Wash. – In celebration of National Nutrition Month, the Washington State University Dining Services will host a month-long series of events.

WSU Dining Services will host three Healthy Cooking Demonstrations, each at 2-3 p.m. at different locations. Attendees will be able to sample the food they learn to make.

The first demonstration will show how to prepare lamb stir-fry and curry with Executive Chef Derek Rice. It will be held Wednesday, March 7, at the Southside Café.

The next Healthy Cooking Demonstration will be Friday, March 23, at the Northside Café with Chef Mel Dacanay. Avocado based dishes will be featured.

The final demonstration will be Wednesday, March 28, at the Hillside Café. Chef Jeff Wold will prepare lentil based dishes.

Dinner with the Dietitian will be held 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at the Northside Café with WSU Registered Dietitian Chelsey Woods. No meal purchase is necessary for this event. Woods will discuss the National Nutrition Month theme, "Get Your Plate in Shape.”

Woods will also conduct Healthy Dining Tours at each of the dining centers 1:30-2 p.m.  March 20-22. Students can ask questions and learn about healthy options the dining centers provide.
