PULLMAN – Students made a difference in the community last Saturday as WSU’s Center for Civic Engagement helped them find many different volunteer opportunities on National “Make a Difference Day,” which occurs every fourth Saturday in October.
Some opportunities offered were:
Haunted Palouse: Volunteers helped create a fun and scary experience for the community.
Palouse-Clearwater Environment Institute: Participants helped winterize the Moscow Community Garden and Nature Center/Learning Nursery.
Rake Run: ASWSU and other students raked and bagged leaves for citizens around Pullman.
Palouse Discovery Science Center: A Greek fraternity, Delta Tau Delta, helped trim trees and bushes and clear debris outside.
Montessori School Rummage Sale: Members of the WSU Dance Team volunteered.
Early Learning Services: Students painted buildings.

Michael Schwartz - 10/29/2009 11:30:55 AM I was a student who got to paint. We painted the main classroom yellow and it looked great when we were done. We also painted a meeting room. When the project went beyond the three hours, ELS bought pizza for the volunteers and we finished the job. It was great!
