WSU works with lawmakers following budget change

PULLMAN, Wash. – After releasing a budget that included no cuts to Washington State University last week, the Washington Senate over the weekend issued a new proposal that would cut WSU funding by $9.2 million.

WSU is continuing to work with the Senate to better understand the impact of the new budget proposal on higher education, says WSU President Elson S. Floyd in his new Perspectives column. WSU seeks to promote a budget that "protects, to the greatest extent possible, funding for our students and our university” and that places our state on a solid financial footing for the future.
