WSU joins nat'l Smithsonian Folklife Festival

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Washington State University is one of some 20 land-grant universities participating in the 46th Smithsonian Folklife Festival, the largest annual cultural event in the nation’s capital. Researchers from WSU shared plant science knowledge with the public after the booth opened on Wednesday.
This year's festival celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Morrill Act, through which President Abraham Lincoln created the U.S. Department of Agriculture and a nationwide system of land-grant universities.
The festival began on June 27 on the national mall in Washington, D.C., and will continue through the summer and fall with celebrations on the Pullman campus as well as at each of WSU’s research and extension centers.
