Kristin N. Zaichkin

Kristin Zaichkin is a first-generation college student who is graduating with a double major in history and political science, both with the pre-law option.

Zaichkin describes herself as a classic high school underachiever, not really caring much about her education. But at Washington State University she found the encouragement, motivation and drive to pursue her goal to be accepted at a quality law school. She came from a family of husky fans but now that Zaichkin has found her place at WSU, her family members are “cougars for life”.

Zaichkin discovered the WSU Mock Trial Team and fully embraced the opportunity to become a member.

“I wish I had done it earlier,” Zaichkin said. “It gives you a challenge, it is high pressure, you learn to think on your feet and you learn what attorneys do.”

Through mock trail Zaichkin became a member of a community of motivated, intellectually stimulating and creative students.

“She is unequivocally one of the very best students I have taught since I taught my first undergraduate course in 1996,” said Professor Mitch Pickerill. “I was interested in having Kristin on the mock trial team because of her extraordinary intellectual abilities and her strong critical thinking and argumentation skills.”

Zaichkin was able to complete her degree in three years. She has been accepted into Yale Law School and Harvard Law School.
