Volcanic ash studied to predict eruptions

PULLMAN - Work by two WSU geologists on the microscopic properties of volcanic ash may lead to better methods of detecting and predicting volcanic eruptions - including those from supervolcanoes.
 
John Wolff and Michael Rowe are focusing on geologic activity in the Cascade Range, where a powerful subduction zone off the coast of Washington, Oregon and California produces constant volcanic activity.
