PULLMAN - WSU Libraries features new equipment and services in response to results of the LibQUAL+ We Hear You survey. LibQUAL+ is a nationally-normed user satisfaction survey.

Cindy Kaag, head of Research Services and of the science libraries, said the survey has been beneficial to identifying the needs and wants of students and faculty. The survey is the fifth one we have conducted and we would definitely use it again," she said.
For example, she said, "The survey found that many library users found the study rooms and computers to be outdated. In response, the libraries have added new equipment and services. They include:
new flat screen monitors in Owen and Terrell libraries
4-hour laptop checkout
updated software in all campus libraries
homepage search box for books, journals and more
courtesy notices to patrons before materials are due
23 workshops on research and social tools (see http://www.wsulibs.wsu.edu/usered/COD)
more copiers and printers available through Cougar Copies
wireless printing through Cougar Prints
free delivery of resources to graduate students and faculty
scanning and e-mailing to patrons of copies of articles owned by WSU
a 40-workstation classroom and an Apple kiosk inside Terrell
whiteboards added to all group study rooms
online journals and books available to all WSU users, not just Pullman

Kaag said WSU Libraries plan on using LibQUAL+ again in two or three years; meanwhile, the libraries are busy using the results of the most recent survey to improve user experiences.
WSU has done an impressive job of responding to changes and is one of the leading universities when it comes to library measures such as percent of money spent on electronic resources, she said.
