Associate professor selected as a research associate with the NARP

PULLMAN - David Pietz, associate professor of modern Chinese history, director of the Asia Program and director of the Global Studies Program, recently was selected as a research associate with the National Asia Research Program (NARP). Pietz was selected out of 140 nominees for this honor.
 
The NARP is a national research and conference program designed to promote the policy-relevant study of Asia. Pietz will make a presentation at the inaugural Asia Policy Assembly that will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 17-18.
 
Pietz also will receive a research stipend of $5,000 to cover activities through the first year of the two-year program.
 
The final stage of the nomination process for this position is the award of the Scalapino Prize to one of the research associates and Fellows. The winner will be announced at the evening reception at the Asia Policy Assembly on June 17.
 
The NARP selected 25 professors and associate professors to serve as research associates and 10 assistant professors to serve as research fellows.
